DiMaggio Garners Player of the Week Honors

DULUTH, Minn. -- Trine University women's hockey freshman Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Women's Offensive Player of the Week following the team's weekend split with Chatham University.

DiMaggio led the way for the Thunder offensively over the weekend. She started on Friday coming away two goals. She tallied her first in the tenth minute of the contest to give Trine their first lead of the night. She then iced the game with an empty-net goal in the final seconds to put the team up 5-2 for the victory.

On Saturday, DiMaggio once again started the scoring for the Thunder. In the third period with the team down 3-0, she came up with her final goal of the weekend to pull Trine within two and start a comeback attempt that came up just short with the team dropping the game 3-2.

DiMaggio becomes the second Trine skater to be named the player of the week this season. It is the first time she has received the award.

The Thunder take the ice again when they travel to face Adrian in a non-conference game on Saturday, Jan. 12. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
