LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Trine University women's hockey team opened Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Slaat Cup competition with an 8-1 loss to host Lake Forest College.
The Foresters started the scoring in the fifth minute of the contest and then added another in the tenth minute to take a 2-0 lead.
The Thunder scored their lone goal of the game in the 12th minute while on the power-play. Sophomore Olivia Coyne (Allison Park, Pa.) came up with the goal, her second of the season. Freshman Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) and sophomore Jade Pandres (Eagle River, Alaska) added assists.
The rest of the contest was all Lake Forest as they added six goals to take the victory 8-1.
The two teams will face off again tomorrow, Feb. 23 with puck drop scheduled for 3 p.m. CST.
