Women's Hockey Drops Second Game to Nationally-Ranked Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Trine University women's hockey team trailed nationally-ranked Adrian College by just one goal going into the final minute of regulation, but an empty-netter gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 victory.

The Bulldogs stuck first, tallying two goals in one minute and ten seconds during the second period to build a 2-0 lead.

The Thunder responded in the 19th minute of the period with a goal of their own to pull back within one at 2-1. Junior Olivia Coyne (Allison Park, Pa.) tallied the goal herthird of the season. Junior Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) and sophomore Brandi Wilson (Fenton, Mich.) added assists.

The score remained unchanged through the second intermission and the majority of the thrid period. With just over a minute remaining Trine pulled their goalie in favor of an extra forward, but the move backfired as Adrian iced the game with a empty net goal just 11 seconds later. The 3-1 lead would be enough for the victory.

Senior Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) played the game in net for the Thunder and ended the contest with 48 saves while allowing just the two goals.

Trine falls to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in Nothern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play following the loss. They will continue their season when they host Lake Forest College for a pair of NCHA games. The first is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7.
