Marian Bitten by Visiting Women's Hockey

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- The Trine University women's hockey returned to Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play with a win on the road, defeating Marian University by a score of 4-1.

The Thunder took the lead in the first period with the lone tally of the stanza. Sophomore Brandi Wilson (Fenton, Mich.) tallied the goal with assists coming from sophomore Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) and junior Jade Pandres (Eagle River, Alaska). 

Junior Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) gave Trine a 2-0 lead in the third minute of the second period. Freshman Grace Canty (West Bloomfield, Mich.) added an assist.

The Sabres cut the deficit back to one in the sixth minute of the period bringing the score to 2-1.

The Thunder pulled back to a two-goal lead in the 16th minute. DiMaggio scored the goal with Wilson adding an assist. The team would take a 3-1 into the final intermission.

Trine would go on to ice the game in the final minutes of the contest with an empty-net goal. Junior Emily Moore (London, Ont.) tallied the goal with Canty adding her second assist of the night.

Senior Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) played the game in net for the team and finished with 22 saves.

The Thunder improve to 6-5-3 overall and 2-4-1 in NCHA competition. They will face off with Marian again tomorrow, Saturday, January 18. The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
