Isaacson's Last-Minute Goal Lifts Thunder to Victory

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Junior Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) records second game-winning goal of weekend as the Trine University women's hockey team defeated Marian University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) contest.

The Thunder struck first in the contest. The goal came in just the sixth minute of the game from junior Kirsten Vandenheuvel (Denfield, Ontario). Classmate Sierra Westner (Saginaw, Mich.) and sophomore Devin Dzumaryk (Milford, Mich.) added assists.

The 1-0 lead would hold for Trine through both intermissions. The Sabres came up with a goal in the fourth minute of the third period to tie the game.

The contest appeared destined for overtime but in the final minute of regulation junior Hannah Nelson (Libertyville, Ill.) Fired a shot on net that resulted in a save. The rebound came out away from the net where Isaacson quickly collected it and fired off a game-winning goal.

In net, senior Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) recorded 23 saves on the way to her sixth win of the season.

The Thunder improve to 7-5-3 overall and 3-4-1 in the NCHA. The team will travel to face the College of St. Scholastica on Friday, January 24. The contest is set to start at 8 p.m. CST.
