Thunder Fall to Adrian in Opening Game of Season

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Trine University women's hockey team opened their season by traveling to face Adrian College. The Bulldogs proved to be too much for the Thunder coming away with an 8-1 win.

Adrian pulled away early coming up with three goals in the first period including two coming on power play opportunities. They would add three more in the second and another pair in the third for their eight in the contest.

Trine scored their goal in the 13th minute of the second period. After a turnover in the neutral zone, senior Sierra Westner (Saginaw, Mich.) passed the puck to junior Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) who carried it into the offensive zone and near the net. Rather than firing off a shot, she passed it back to junior Brandi Wilson (Fenton, Mich.) who was trailing the play perfectly. Wilson fired her shot on goal and came up with the score.

The Thunder will face off again with the Bulldogs on Friday, Nov. 6. The contest will be a home one for Trine and is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Information on the current attendance policy for hockey games at Trine can be found in the Fan Portal.
