Spartans Outlast Women's Hockey

GENEVA, Ill. -- The Trine University women's hockey team came up short by the score of 2-0, as they traveled to face Aurora University in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play.

Neither team found the back of the net in the first period or the majority of the second. The Spartans finally broke the stalemate in the 17th minute of the second period when they capitalized on a power-play opportunity.

Aurora would add an insurance goal in the 13th minute of the final period to come up with the 2-0 win.

Junior Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) led the way for the Thunder offensively finishing the game with eight shots.

In net, junior Emily Nettesheim (Hartland, Wis.) finished with 27 saves despite recording the loss.

The same two teams will face off again tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 20, this time Trine will host the contests. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m.
