Wilson Takes Home Season's Final NCHA Player of the Week Award

DULUTH, Minn. -- Senior Brandi Wilson (Fenton, Mich.) has been named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Trine University women's hockey team to a 4-0 finish to the regular season. This is the second time this season, and in her career, that Wilson has earned the player of the week honors. 

Wilson finished the week with eleven points as the team swept both Finlandia University and Lawrence University to finish the regular season with a 9-15-1 overall record and a 6-9-1 record in NCHA play securing the sixth-seed in the upcoming NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs.

The week started on Monday when the team got out to a quick start and ended up with a 7-2 victory over the Lions. Wilson became just the second student-athlete in Trine history to record a hat trick by tallying three goals in the contest. The team finished off the sweep winning the second game 2-0 with Wilson recording her first assist of the week.

Then on Friday, the forward really exploded tying her own program record with five points in a 9-2 victory over the Vikings. She finished the game with a pair of goals and three assists. Wilson would finish the week with a goal and assist in the team's final 6-1 win over Lawrence.

The team will travel to face St. Norbert College in the opening round of the Slaats Cup Playoffs. The first game is scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 25. The opening round is a best of two series with a tie broken by a mini-game to be played after the second game if necessary.
