Hans Named NCHA Player of the Week

DULUTH, Minn. -- Sophomore Payton Hans has been named this week's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Offensive Player of the Week after she posted record-breaking offense in a weekend sweep of Hilbert College by the Trine University women's hockey team.

Hans is the second Thunder student-athlete to bring home player of the week honors this season. It is the first time in her career she has earned the recognition.

She began the weekend of competition with the best offensive game in program history. The team shattered program records for a single game, with 13 goals, 15 assists and 28 points. Hans finished the contest with seven points including three goals and four assists. She becomes just the fourth skater in program history to record a hat trick while her four assists and seven points become the new single-game benchmark for team.

On Saturday she recorded the second hat trick of her career posting three goals in the team's 11-0 victory.

All told for the weekend Hans finished with six goals and four assists for ten points.
