Hans Sets Program Record in 10-0 Victory

ANGOLA, Ind. – Sophomore Payton Hans becomes the new single game scoring leader for the program as the Trine University women's hockey team secures a 10-0 victory over visiting Hilbert College.

The Thunder opened the scoring just over a minute into the game when senior Gabrielle Hicks scored an unassisted goal making the score 1-0.

At the 2:52 mark of the same period Hans scored her first goal of the game, she finished the period with her third hat trick of the season. Sophomores Kailey Mleko and Ellie Warhoftig each added a single goal to give the Thunder a 6-0 lead at the first intermission.

Mleko, Warhoftig and Hicks all ended the period with two points, adding assists to their goals. Senior Grace Canty, juniors Madison Toor, Grace Hicks and Taryn Raisanen, and sophomore Lea Connor all finished with one point coming as assists.

The offensive production slowed in the second with just Hans scoring for Trine, increasing the lead to 7-0. Toor added her second assist of the night on the goal, which came off of a neutral zone steal by the junior.

The Thunder added three final goals in the third to finish the game with the 10-0 score. Canty, Mleko and Hans all scored. Raisanen and Connor added their second assists of the night and sophomore Anabelle Scriver added her first.

Hans led the way in the contest with her five goals, breaking the old record of four which has been tallied twice, once earlier this year and once in 2018. Mleko finished second on the team with three points including two goals and an assist.
