Thunder Strike First, Fall 4-1

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team scored first but came up short of the visiting squad from Lake Forest College dropping the game 4-1.

The Thunder scored the lone goal of the first period taking advantage of the first penalty of the contest. In the waning moments of the power play, Gabrielle Hicks and Kailey Mleko traded passes working into the far circle. Once established Mleko fired the puck toward the far side of the net where Ellie Warhoftig was waiting to deflect it home.

The second period went in favor of the Foresters, with the visiting team scoring two goals to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. They added two more in the third, one on the power play and one with an empty net, to finish off the day with the 4-1 victory.

Ella Park made the start in net for Trine and finished the game with 33 saves while allowing the three goals.

The Thunder fall to 0-8-0 overall and 0-6-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play after the loss. They will head out east to face SUNY Potsdam for a pair of games, beginning on Tuesday, November 21. That game is set to start at 5 p.m.
