Head coach Melissa Paluch announced Katie May as the assistant coach for the Trine University women’s hockey team in October of 2023.

“I am thrilled to have Katie joining the Thunder hockey family,” said Paluch, “Her energy and passion for the game will be huge assets as we push the program to the next level.”

May, a recent graduate of Indiana University, has spent the last three years honing her coaching skills at all levels of hockey. She carries a Level 2 USA Hockey Coaching Certification and is involved in continuing education on goalie development.

May has served in multiple assistant coaching roles, including for the 16U Indiana Elite team and for the 14U Indianapolis Fuel Fusion. She has served as goalie coach for the Indianapolis Fuel Fusion and has done one-on-one power skating and skills coaching. In addition, May was team leader for the USA Hockey 15s National Player Development Camp, a mentor coach for the Team Indiana College Showcase Team and interim director and skills coach for the Indianapolis Youth Hockey Association.
