CANEPA, GARRETT NAMED WOMEN’S LACROSSE MIAA POW

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine teammates Emily Canepa and Grace Garrett its Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in women’s lacrosse for matches played through April 20.

Canepa, a senior attacker from West Chester, Ohio (Lakota West HS), scored 10 goals, scooped up 11 ground balls and caused seven turnovers for the week as the Thunder split a pair of MIAA contests. She scored seven goals and added nine ground balls, four draw controls and six caused turnovers in a 14-13 victory over Albion. She also scored all three Trine goals in a 16-3 loss to Adrian. Canepa is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season.

 

 

Garrett, a sophomore goalkeeper from Carmel, Ind. (Carmel HS), made 14 saves and added seven ground balls in two MIAA contests for the Thunder. She made 10 saves, had four ground balls and caused three turnovers in a loss to Adrian, and made four saves and had three ground balls in a win over Albion. Garrett is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season.
