Thunder Fall at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.--- The Trine women's lacrosse team was defeated by Calvin 18-5 Saturday afternoon at Zuidema Field.

Emily Cefaratti scored five goals and notched two assists, while Audrey Grabowski notched four goals and assist to lead the Knights to the victory. Calvin outshot Trine 45-14 on the afternoon. Darcy Little (Williamsburg, Ohio/Williamsburg) scored three goals to lead the Thunder. She has scored multiple goals in six-straight games, and now has 10 goals in MIAA games. Trine falls to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA. Calvin is now 7-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

With 15 saves, Grace Garrett (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) moved into second on Trine's single-season list in saves. Taylor Gast (Akron, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) added a goal and an assist.

The Knights scored six of the game's first seven goals to build an early lead that proved too much for the Thunder to overcome. Cefaratti scored three goals during that span, the last of which made the score 6-1 with 18:54 to play in the first half.

Little scored two goals, both of which were assisted by Gast, and Hunter Johnson (Millbury, Ohio/Lake) added another tally to keep Trine within striking distance at 7-3. A Gast goal on a free-position shot cut the score to 7-4, but the Knights closed the half two goals of their own to take a 9-4 lead.

Little scored following another Knight goal off a pass from Anne Mammel (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) to cut the score to 10-5. However, the Knights would control from that point on out with 13 unanswered goals the rest of the way.

Trine returns to action this Wednesday, Apr. 16 when they host Kalamazoo at 4:00 p.m.
