Women's Lacrosse Recognized as Academic Honor Squad

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine women's lacrosse team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for their work in the classroom, as the team was named an Academic Honor Squad for the 2014 season.

The IWLCA Academic Honor Squads consist of all teams that earned a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better. The Thunder women earned a 3.125 GPA in the classroom during the 2013-14 school year. Sarah Fowler, Hunter Johnson, Lauren Hood, Mary Lang, and Anne Mammel all earned recognition on the MIAA Honor Roll for having a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.

Overall, the IWLCA recongized 254 schools across all NCAA Divisions as Academic Honor Squads. Trine was one of 125 NCAA Division III schools to earn the distinction. There were 250 schools in NCAA Division III that sponsored women's lacrosse as a varsity sport during the 2013-14 academic year.

Trine's Grace Garrett was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season to highlight the Thunder performance on the field.

The IWLCA is a membership-led nonprofit association representing the nation's intercollegiate women's lacrosse coaches within Division I, II & III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
