Thunder Drop MIAA-Opener at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- The Trine women's lacrosse team dropped its MIAA opener to Calvin, 22-1 Wednesday afternoon at Zuidema Field.

Emily Cefaratti scored four goals and added five assists to lead the Knights' scoring efforts. Kelly Pepper scored a game-high six goals for Calvin, while Kayla Erffmeyer and Emma Hal scored three times. Rebecca Plantz (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt) scored the lone Thunder goal, her fourth of the season. Plantz also collected two ground balls and caused two turnovers. Trine fell to 0-5 on the season. Calvin improved to 4-4, 1-0 in the MIAA.

The Knights totaled 30 shots on the afternoon. Calvin held a 23-12 edge in ground balls and scored on 8-of-10 free position shot attempts.

Anne Mammel (Tecumseh, Mich. / Tecumseh) notched a team-high six draw control and added a ground ball and caused turnover for the Thunder. Bailey Brown (Sheridan, Ind. / Westfield) collected a team-high three ground balls.

Trine will play its home-opener Saturday, Apr. 9 as the Thunder host Kalamazoo at 1 p.m.
