Thunder Drop Road Contest at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich.-- The Trine women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-5 road contest at Adrian Saturday afternoon.

Five players accounted for all of the Bulldogs' scoring. Annika Nuler scored five goals and added one assist to pace the Adrian attack. Rebecca Plantz (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt) scored two goals to lead the Thunder. The performance gave the sophomore two-straight multi-goal efforts. She added four ground balls. Trine fell to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Bulldogs improved to 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA.

Anne Mammel (Tecumseh, Mich. / Tecumseh) also notched a multi-point effort with a goal and an assist for the Thunder. Elena Gallego (Norwalk, Calif. / Santa Fe) and Bailey Brown (Sheridan, Ind. / Westfield) each added goals.

Caity Rose (Hamilton, Ind. / Hamilton) tied her career-high with 17 saves. She added six ground balls and caused three turnovers.

Mariesa Johnson scored four times for Adrian. Annie Rice and Alex Branum contributed with three goals each, while Ava Cares added two goals.

After a three-goal run to start the game for the Bulldogs, Gallego scored on a free-position attempt to cut the deficit to 3-1. After another three-goal run, Mammel scored on another free-position shot to cut the score to 6-2. Brown wrapped up Trine's scoring in the first half with an unassisted tally.

Plantz opened the scoring in the second half with her first goal of the game. She later added the final Thunder tally off an assist from Mammel.

Trine returns to action Wednesday, Apr. 20 when the Thunder host Hope at 4 p.m. in Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.
