ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine women's lacrosse team has released its 2017 schedule, the team announced today.
This season's schedule features a seven game non-conference slate after the Thunder played just four non-league games last spring. Trine will also see a significant increase in opportunities to play in front of its home fans with eight home games, doubling last season's total. The 2017 season will be the team's first under new head coach Madeline Dugan, who takes over after serving as an assistant at Adrian College.
The Thunder open its new era with a pair of home contests, beginning with the season-opener Saturday, Mar. 4 against a familiar foe, Wilmington (Ohio). The two teams have met three of the past four seasons, with Trine collecting a pair of wins in those meetings. A home game against second-year program Concordia Chicago follows the opener.
Two consecutive road games against Benedictine (Ill.) and Loras, both members of the Mid West Lacrosse Conference, follow before the Thunder return home to face Mount St. Joseph and NCAA Division II member Ursuline. Trine holds a 2-1 edge in the all-time series against Mount St. Joseph. Non-conference play wraps up with a road trip to Franklin.
The MIAA portion of the schedule includes matchups against Saint Mary's, Adrian, Olivet and Calvin. The game against the Knights wraps up the regular season on Senior Day. The Thunder will travel to face league foes Kalamazoo, Hope, Alma and defending conference champion Albion.
