Poteet Leading Nation in Saves Per Game

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Trine's Audrey Poteet is leading NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse in saves per game, according to the latest statistics report released by the NCAA.

Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis) is averaging 15.33 saves per game to top the nation. The sophomore has totaled 138 saves, the sixth-most in the nation, through nine games. Poteet also ranks 32nd in the nation with a .523 save percentage. All three marks lead the MIAA. Poteet's save percentage and saves per game mark would be school records if she were to maintain the rates the rest of the season. Paced by Poteet's efforts, the Thunder rank 31st in Division III in save percentage.

Earlier this season, Poteet set a school record with 25 saves on a stout .758 save percentage in an 11-8 victory over Mount St. Joseph. She has totaled double-digits in saves in all but one game, including two efforts of more than 20 saves. Poteet has stopped more than 50 percent of the shots she has faced in four games this season, including a span of three consecutive games.

Poteet can set the single-season program record for saves with a strong finish to the season. She needs 43 saves to set a new team mark. Trine has six regular-season games left on its schedule.

Trine continues MIAA play Tuesday, Apr. 11 at Hope. The game time is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The Thunder enter tomorrow's contest 2-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
