Rosekrans and Gallego Net Hat Tricks as Adrian Defeats Women's Lacrosse

ANGOLA, Ind.—The Trine women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-6 game to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponent Adrian on Saturday afternoon.

The Thunder moves to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in conference action. The Bulldogs improve to 3-6 and 2-1 against the MIAA.

Seniors Elena Gallego (Norwalk, Calif./Santa Fe) and Laura Rosekrans (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) led the Thunder with three goals each. Gallego also earned an assist on one of Gallego's tallies.

The Bulldogs were propelled by Annika Nuler with five goals and Alex Branum with three. Jenna Carter and Ava Cares each added two goals.

Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) made 13 saves in net for the Thunder. Cassie Veenkant earned the win for Adrian making two saves in the first half. Vanessa Wallace made three saves in net during the second half.

Rosekrans led the Thunder with three ground balls, while Lilly Dusek (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville), Kiersten Osowski (Granger, Ind./Elkhart Memorial), Gallego and Poteet each had two. Carter led the Bulldogs with six ground balls, while Mariesa Johnson had five.

Adrian opened scoring 50 seconds into the game when Nuler scored off a free position shot. Branum added another goal 15 seconds later to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. Gallego scored her 24th goal of the season to put the Thunder on the board 2:40 into the game. The Bulldogs added seven more goals before Gallego notched her second goal of the game off a free position shot. The Bulldogs added two more goals, while Rosekrans scored her first goal of the game in the first half. Adrian held an 11-3 advantage going into halftime.

Rosekrans added her second goal of the game four minutes into the second half. Adrian scored three more before Gallego completed her hat trick grabbing her third tally. The Bulldogs added one last goal with 4:40 left on the clock. With 46 seconds left in the game, Rosekrans scored her 17th goal of the season to earn her hat trick.

The Thunder returns to action on April 20 when it will play host to OIivet for a 7 p.m. game.
