Albion Gets Past Women's Lacrosse

ALBION, Mich.—The Trine women's lacrosse team fell to Albion, 21-6 on Saturday afternoon in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest.

The Thunder moves to 3-10 and 1-5 MIAA. Albion improves to 4-8 and 3-3 in conference action.

The Britons jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first half before Anne Mammel (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) scored unassisted with 11:05 left in the half. Albion added another goal, and Lilly Dusek (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) scored with 4:43 remaining unassisted. The Britons added two more tallies to ride a 14-2 lead into the halftime.

Albion added seven goals in the second half. Senior Elena Gallego notched three goals, while Mammel added her second.

The Britons were led by Cait Gaitley with eight goals, while Lauren Wiegand and Shannon Kahl each had four.

Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) made seven saves in net for the Thunder.

Jenina Villabroza earned the win with seven saves for Albion.

The Thunder continues road action on April 27 when they will play a 7 p.m. game at Alma.
