Thunder Rolls Against Quakers

RICHMOND, IND. – The Trine University women's lacrosse team came out ahead of Earlham College today by the score of 10-4. Freshman Kristin John (South Bend, Ind. / St. Joe's) led the way for the Thunder offensively scoring a career high four goals in the contest.

The Thunder started the game strong coming away with two goals in the first four minutes of the contest for an early 2-0 lead. Sophomore Lauren Hall (Hartford City, Ind. / Blackford) recorded the first goal while John recorded her first of the game for the second.

The Quakers would fight their way back into the game however scoring two unanswered goals just 30 seconds apart two tie the game at two. Both goals, and all of Earlham's goals in the contest, came on free position attempts.

Over the course of the rest of the first half and beginning the second the Thunder would go on to score seven unanswered goals, building a 9-2 lead that they would hold onto until the last ten minutes of the contest. John recorded her other three goals during this stretch, while seniors Rebecca Plantz (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt) and Samantha Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) added two apiece for Trine.

The Quakers would score their final two goals of the contest with nine minutes and then eight minutes remaining in the contest to pull within five at 9-4.

Sophomore Lilly Dusek (Zionsville, Ind. / Zionsville) came away with the final goal of the contest for the Thunder with just under two minutes remaining. The goal was her first of the season and gave Trine the 10-4 victory.

The Thunder outshot the opposition in the game 36-20 and doubled up the Quakers in shots on goal with 24. Junior Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis) once again got the start in goal for Trine and ended the game with her second win of the season and eight saves.

The Thunder improve to 2-2 after the victory. They will take the field again on Thursday, March 15, when they travel to Elmhurst College for a 6 p.m. contest.
