Women's Lacrosse Stung by Hornets

KALAMAZOO, MICH. -- The Trine University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Kalamazoo College today by the score of 20-5.

Kalamazoo came away with ten goals in each of the two halves and the Thunder were unable to keep pace, trailing 10-1 at the intermission before ultimately falling by the score of 20-5.

Trine's lone goal of the first half came from senior Samantha Ihrie (East Noble / Kendallville) with eight minutes remaining in the period. Junior Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind. / Ben Davis) recorded an assist on the goal, her first of the season.

Freshman Kristen John (South Bend, Ind. / St. Joe's) and senior Rebecca Plantz (DeWitt, Mich. / DeWitt) split the teams offensive production through the rest of the game finishing with two goals apiece. Sophomore Lauren Hall (Hartford City, Ind. / Blackford) came away with the other Trine assist in the contest.

Poteet got the start in goal and finished the game with 12 saves and five groundballs.

The Thunder will take the field again on Monday, April 23 when they travel to Alma College for another conference match. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
