Women's Lacrosse Adds Assistant

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's lacrosse team has named Katherine Barnes as the program's assistant coach.

Barnes comes to Trine having served as an assistant coach for the Alderson Broaddus University women's lacrosse team last season. She has also served as a coach and counselor at Nike Lacrosse Camps.

"I am very happy to welcome Katie to the Thunder staff," said head coach Madeline Dugan, "She is going to add another dimension to our program and help us take the next steps in competition. She will be a great addition to our staff."

Barnes played college lacrosse at fellow Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) member Adrian College, where she was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Honor Roll for her final season. She also was a member of the Adrian College ACHA D1 women's hockey team.

The Thunder finished last season with a 5-11 overall record and a 3-5 record in the MIAA. The team finished sixth in the conference, a two-place improvement over the previous season. Their five wins are the most by Trine women's lacrosse since the 2013 season.
