Women's Lacrosse Enters Half Close but Falls to Visiting Hanover

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University women's lacrosse team dropped their home opener to visiting Hanover College by the score of 14-10.

The Panthers picked up the first three goals of the contest in the first six minutes of play. Thunder sophomore Chloe Vruno (Geneva, Ill. / St. Francis) then took advantage of a free position attempt to get the team on the board. Hanover would then score the next four goals to take a 7-1 lead.

Trine then went on a run of their own Vruno scored twice then assisted classmate Mia Schlueter (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carrol) on another goal. Junior Kristin John (South Bend, Ind. / St. Joe's) then finished off the run with her own free position goal to bring the score to 7-5 as the teams entered the intermission.

The two teams would trade goals to start the second half, before Hanover wen on a three-goal run to build their lead back to five. They would hold off the Thunder's offense through the rest of the game and left town with the 14-10 victory.

Vruno led the way for the team ending the contest with six points including five goals and an assist. John finished the game with three goals.

The Thunder fall to 0-2 following the loss. They will travel to face Earlham College on Tuesday, March 3. The contest is set to start at 7 p.m.
