Morthorst Given MIAA Weekly Honor

FREELAND, Mich. -- Junior Emily Morthorst (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the first time in her career she has earned the award. It is the first time a Trine player has received the award since the 2018 season.

Morthorst takes home the award after finishing both of the Thunder's games with double-digit save totals as the team finished the week 1-1.

In the first game of the week, Morthorst turned aside 14 shots for a .500 save percentage in the contest. The team came up just short of visiting Taylor University by the score of 14-12.

Then in the second game of the week, the team traveled to face the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and picked up their first win of the season. Morthorst was key to victory as she turned aside 12 shots to hold the opposition to eight goals. Trine took the contest by a score of 16-8.
