HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Trine University women's lacrosse team dropped their game to Hope College today by the score of 18-12. Senior Kristin John (South Bend, Ind. / St. Joe's) became the program's all-time leader in goals with her goals in the game.

The Flying Dutch struck first in the contest coming up with three goals in just over three minutes of play. The 3-0 lead would last over the next seven minutes when the freshman Danielle Gargiulo (Downers Grove, Ill. / Downers Grove) came up with the first goal for the team, putting the Thunder on the board.

A few minutes later junior Liv Ghent (Byron Center, Mich. / Caledonia) pulled the team back within one with her own goal. John added an assist.

From there Hope pulled away going on a 5-2 run through the rest of the half. Gargiulo accounted for both of the other goals in the half for Trine.

Both teams scored in the first minute of the second half, but the Thunder added a second just outside of that minute to pull back within three of the opposition. Ghent accounted for both of the early goals for the team. The next four goals belonged to the Flying Dutch as they built the lead to 14-6.

Trine then went on a run of their own scoring four goals to the Hope's two over the next seven minutes. John tallied her three goals during the stretch becoming the all-time leader for the program with just under ten minutes remaining in the contest. She currently sits at 124 goals over her career holding the record by two goals.

With the score at 16-10, the Thunder could get no closer as the two teams traded goals over the last seven minutes of the game and the final would be 18-12.

Trine falls to 3-2 following the loss. They will travel to face Kalamazoo College in their next contest. The game is set to start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13.
