Ghent Nabs MIAA Honors

FREELAND, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the 2021 iteration of their All-MIAA first and second team honors and junior Liv Ghent (Byron Center, Mich. / Caledonia) represents the Trine University women's lacrosse team by garnering second team honors.

Ghent becomes the third player in program history to earn second team honors from the MIAA. The Thunder have placed a player on the team the last three times the honor has been awarded.

Ghent finished the season team leader in all three scoring categories with 34 goals and 22 assists for 56 points. Among MIAA competition she finished fifth in assists and points. She also finished the season third on the team with 38 draw controls.

The assists tally represents a single-season record for the program while her points total comes in third in the record books. She already sits second in program history in career assists, behind teammate Kristin John (Southbend, Ind. / St. Joe's).

Ghent finished the season with five matches recording six or more points, her highest tally came in the team's highly contest against Calvin University on April 17. she finished that game with three goals and four assists as the team dropped the contest by just four goals to the eventual MIAA regular-season co-champion.

She also came up big in both the team's victories over Adrian College. Early in the season, she recorded five goals and an assist as the team rolled to an 18-7 victory and then later on she finished with three goals and three assists as the team recorded the 16-9 win.
