Women's Lacrosse Ends Season Against Albion College

ANGOLA, Ind. – Seven members of the Trine University women's lacrosse team scored but they fell short of visiting Albion College in the final game of the 2023 season. Sophomore Courtney Rhodes finished the game with a team-high three goals in the loss.

The Britons scored the first two goals of the game, the first aided by a Thunder penalty and the second an unassisted attempt. The home side finally added a tally of their own to the board with 6:35 remaining in the quarter. The goal was Rhodes's first of the day, with junior Alyssa Keptner adding an assist. After another goal for the visitors, Keptner finished off the period's scoring with her first of the night. The 3-2 score went into the first break

The second period went all the way of Albion as they outscored the Thunder 5-1. The lone goal for Trine came from freshman Alyssa Lahutsky, just her fourth goal of the season. After the streak the score was 8-3 in favor of the visitors.

Another tough period awaited the Thunder in the third period with the Britons outscoring them 4-2 to build a lead of 12-5 entering the final quarter. Sophomore Brooke Hoag scored the first goal of the quarter and Rhodes scored her second with 8:36 remaining.

The two teams combined for nine goals in the fourth quarter with Trine getting the better of the visitors for the first time in the match. After two goals for the Britons to start the period, Rhodes got her third of the day. Hoag scored her second a few minutes later. The Thunder went on a 3-0 run to end the game with goals going to freshman Elizabeth Larson, sophomore Calista Richmond and senior Peri Darmofal.

In addition to leading the team with three goals, Rhodes also led the way with two caused turnovers.

In goal, sophomore Maddy Kasten finished the game with 14 saves and a team high four groundballs.

Trine finishes the season 5-7 overall and 2-5 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play following the loss.
