Hoag Nets Second Athlete of the Week Award of the Year

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Brooke Hoag of the Trine University women's lacrosse team has won her second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week award for the 2024 season, this time for her efforts on the defensive side of the ball after earning MIAA Specialist of the Week honors earlier this year.

Hoag, a Portage, Michigan native, was a huge part of the team's success this week with two road wins. The team traveled to Spalding University on Friday and picked up a 19-7 win and then squared off with Hanover College on Saturday. The Thunder battled to a 19-4 win in that contest to get to 4-1 on the season.

Against Spalding, Hoag secured three ground balls and had five successful draw controls to go with her offense that accumulated four points (one goal, three assists). Game two of the weekend is where she kicked it into high gear on the defensive side of the ball with seven caused turnovers, one off her career high. She added two ground balls and four draw controls against the Panthers as well as a pair of goals.

After a three-game road trip, Trine returns home on Sunday, March 17 when the Franklin College Grizzlies visit Shive Field beginning at 1 p.m.
