Richmond Earns First Career Athlete of the Week Honors

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Calista Richmond of the Trine University women's lacrosse team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for her offensive efforts during the week.

This is the third time this season that a member of the Thunder squad has earned athlete of the week honors and the first time in her career for Richmond.

The Portage, Mich. native had a banner week for Trine as they went 2-1 in three games. She led the way with 21 points including 13 assists and eight goals, all team highs. The totals allowed her to reach 100 career assists following the contest against Wittenberg University

The junior accounted for eight of the team's goals in their close loss to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, four on shots and four on assists. Then on Saturday she added eight more points (3g, 5a) as the team won 10-8 over Wittenberg. Finally on Sunday she posted a pedestrian five points (1g, 4a) in a dominating win against Mount St. Joseph University, 16-0.

The Thunder have just one game this week, hosting the College of Wooster on Saturday, March 30. Opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m.
