NORTH MANCHESTER, IND.-- Trine's wrestling team was defeated by Manchester 28-15 in a dual match Tuesday evening at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
The Spartans held a 16-15 edge in contested matches and picked up an additional 12 points by forfeit. Michael Connor (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) won by fall to highlight Trine's performance in the event. Conner pinned Jason Pedigo at 4:56 to earn the victory in the 197 lb class. Conner picked up points earlier in the matchup on a takedown, a reversal and a near-fall.
Adam Boles (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri West) won by 6-0 decision over Bryce Roberts in the 149 lb division. Boles picked up two points via a takedown in the first period, before closing it out with a strong third period performance that included an escape, takedown and a riding point.
In the 184 lb class, Joe Stasiak (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) picked up a 7-3 win by decision over Brian Clark. Stasiak took the first four points, before Clark rallied to cut it to 4-3 through two periods. A two-point reversal and a riding point helped Stasiak close out the third period for the victory.
In the heavyweight class, Mackenzie Green (Buchanan, Mich./Buchanan) won by 4-1 decision over Dustin Kult. After Kult earned the first point by escape, Green came back with a takedown to take the lead in the second period. Green closed it out with an escape and earned a riding point to take home the win.
Logan Floor (174) picked up a win by major decision for Manchester. Picking up wins by decision for the Spartans were Alan Mock (125) and Josh Juarez (141).
Trine returns to the mats Friday, Jan. 31 when they head to the Border Brawls at UW-Whitewater. The Thunder will be one of 12 teams competing in the event.
