ELMHURST, ILL.-- Trine was defeated by Elmhurst, 44-9, in the first dual match of the season for the Thunder Tuesday night at R.A. Faganel Hall.
Five of the Blue Jays' seven wins came by fall. Elmhurst wrestlers also earned wins by tech fall, decision, and forfeit. Mack Green (Buchanan, Mich./Buchanan) picked up a victory in the 285-lb class for the Thunder, who also earned six points via a forfeit. Trine falls to 0-1 in dual matches this season. Elmhurst improves to 2-0.
Green earned a 4-0 victory to cap off the match. The senior earned his points via an escape, a take down, and over three minutes of ride time. The victory improves the reigning All-American's record to 11-1 on the season. Green has now won nine-consecutive matches dating back to the season-opening Ben McMullen Open.
Freshman David Moore (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) turned in a competitve match in a back-and-forth battle with Anthony Munoz at 125-lbs, but Munoz was able to overcome an early deficit for the win by decision (14-10).
Trine returns to action this Saturday, Nov. 22 when they travel to the Olivet College Comet Duals. The Thunder will face Wisconsin-Whitewater, Davenport, and Heidelberg. Matches begin at 10 a.m.
