Three Top-Eight Finishes Highlight ONU Invitational

ADA, Ohio-- Three top-eight finishes highlighted the Trine wrestling team's performance in the Ohio Northern Invitational Saturday.

Caleb Maddox (Russiaville, Ind./Western) notched the top finish of the day for the Thunder as he finished seventh at 133-lbs. The freshman earned a 5-2 record on the day. An early loss by decision dropped Maddox into the consolation bracket, but he was able to rally back to win four of his next five matches to earn the finish. Two of Maddox's wins came by fall. A tightly-contested 10-8 decision over Campbellsville's Cole Manion gave the freshman his seventh-place finish. Maddox now has a team-best 11 victories this season.

David Moore (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) finished the day 3-3 overall to secure eighth place in the 125-lb class. Two of Moore's victories came by decision, with the other coming by sudden-victory. He outscored his opponents 16-4 between two decisions.

Zach Krumlauf (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) picked up a pair of wins by decision to finish the day 2-3. The sophomore placed eighth in the 149-lb division. Both of Krumlauf's victories came by decision over NCAA Division II wrestlers from Findlay College. He outscored those two opponents by a combined score of 18-7.

Jeffrey Helm (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) won two matches for the Thunder to finish the day 2-2. Helm's efforts included a win by tech fall. Helm is now 6-4 on the seaso

Heavyweight Joe Stasiak (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) picked up Trine's lone pin of the day in his only victory. Jon Blanton (Alexandria, Ind./Alexandria) added a win by major decision for his first victory of the year.
