CHICAGO, Ill.--Two Trine wrestlers went undefeated in the University of Chicago Duals, though the Thunder dropped all three of its matches in the meet.
Jaycee Jensen (Burns Harbor, Ind./Chesterton) and Caleb Maddox (Russiaville, Ind./Western) each won all of their matches on the day. Jensen won three matches, while Maddox was unbeaten in his two contested duals. Trine went 0-3 on the day, falling to Lakeland, 26-22, to Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 30-22, and to Ohio Northern, 27-11. The Thunder fell to 1-5 in duals this season.
Jensen's perfect performance on the day extended his winning-streak to four matches. The sophomore, 174-lb wrestler took his first two matches by pin, including a first period fall in just 1:40 over an opponent from Lakeland. Jensen closed out his day with a victory by 5-3 decision. Two of Jensen's four victories this season have come by fall.
Maddox dominated both of his contested matches, picking up a win by fall in 1:47 and 20-4 victory by tech fall in his other match. Maddox now leads Trine with 13 wins this season. The 133-lb freshman has pinned five opponents this season and won two matches by tech fall.
David Moore (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) also had a successful day, winning two of his three matches. The sophomore outscored two opponents by a combined score of 25-3 in picking up a pair of wins by major decision. Moore also dropped a tightly-contested 5-2 decision in his final match of the day. He has 10 wins on the year.
Jeffrey Helm (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) and Michael Conner (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) also each picked up a win on the day. Helm's victory came by 8-3 decision in the match against Ohio Northern. Conner picked up Trine's fastest win by fall on the day, pinning his opponent in 38 seconds in the match against Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
