WHEATON, Ill.-- A Caleb Maddox victory highlighted the Trine wrestling team's performance in the Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.
Maddox (Russiaville, Ind./Western) earned a 21-9 victory by major decision to lead the Thunder. The freshman defeated Ohio Northern's Ryan Boulton, who was seeded eighth in the 133-lb weight class. The victory was his team-leading 19th of the season.
A pair of losses later dropped Maddox out of the tournament. One of those losses came to Baldwin Wallace's Jesse Gunter, who is ranked second in the nation in the 133-lb class by InterMat. Maddox concluded the invitational with a 19-12 record on the season.
