WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—The Trine wrestling team wrapped up the Budd Whitehill Duals on Saturday morning. Wesleyan and Thiel both picked up wins over the Thunder. Jaycee Jensen won both of his bouts at 184 pounds for Trine.
Trine opened the day against Wesleyan. The Cardinals picked up a 33-17 victory. In its last match of the duals, Thiel defeated the Thunder, 25-18.
Jensen (184), Caleb Maddox (149) and Austin Farrell (174) all picked up three wins on the weekend for Trine.
Trine opened the day against Wesleyan. The Cardinals opened by a win by decision at 125 and followed with two wins by forfeit at 133 and 141 pounds. Wesleyan picked up another victory by fall at 149 pounds. Nick Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) won a 4-2 decision Robert Rosenberg at 157 pounds. Brandon Gay (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) followed with a 15-0 tech fall victory over Aaron Cranston at 165 pounds. Jensen picked up his first win of the day with a 9-5 decision over Matt Winchester. Tyler Prater (Homer, Mich./Homer) grabbed Trine's final win over the Cardinals by forfeit at heavyweight.
Trine wrapped up the duals against Thiel. Brendan Stevens opened the dual with a 2-0 decision over Justin Walter at 125 pounds. The Tomcats won the next two weights by forfeit, before forfeiting 149 pounds to Caleb Maddox (Russiaville, Ind./Western). Thiel won the 157 and 165 pound weight classes. Austin Farrell (Hopkins, Mich./Allegan) won a 9-4 decision over John Sims at 174. Jensen picked up his second win, 5-0, over his Tomcat opponent at 184. Prater picked up his second win with a 2-0 decision over Gavin Colligan.
The Thunder returns to action on Thursday when it will travel to Wabash for a 7 p.m. dual.
