WHEATON, Ill.—Eight Trine wrestlers competed at the Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational on Friday.
At 125 pounds, Brendan Stevens (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) went 3-2 on the day. In his second bout, Stevens pinned Cody Shultz of Thomas More in 1:10.
Caleb Maddox (Russiaville, Ind./Western) opened his day with an 8-2 decision over Caleb Ramos of Elmhurst. Maddox lost his second match, but bounced back to win his next two matches in the wrestlebacks. Maddox ended the day with a 3-2 record.
At heavyweight, Tyler Prater (Homer, Mich./Homer) won his first match, 7-2, over Concordia's John Hinson. Prater lost his second bout, but pinned Manchester's Raekwon Gathright in 4:02. Prater went 2-2 on the day.
Nick Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider), Austin Farrell (Hopkins, Mich./Allegan) and Jaycee Jensen (Burns Harbor, Ind./Chesterton) each picked up a win for the Thunder.
The Thunder returns to action on Feb. 2 when it will travel to Olivet for a 7 p.m. dual.
