ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine wrestling team revealed its 2017-18 schedule today.
The schedule features two tournaments on the campus of Trine University. The Thunder host its traditional Trine Invitational Saturday, Nov. 11. The Invitational is an open-style tournament. The tournament typically draws participants from eight or more schools.
New to the schedule this year is the Trine University Duals, set for Saturday, Nov. 18. Trine will face Lakeland, Thomas More and MacMurray as part of the duals. The Thunder also host Olivet for a dual for Senior Day on Feb. 1.
The season opens Nov. 4 with a return to Muskegon Community College's Ben McMullen Open. Trine last competed in the event in 2015. The Thunder will also make return trips to the Ohio Northern Invitational, Washington & Lee Duals, Pete Willson Invitational and Mid-States Invitational. Newevents on the schedule this season are the North Central Invitational and Spartan Mat Classic.
In addition to tournaments and opens, Trine will wrestle duals at Alma, Adrian and Manchester this season.
The season culminates Feb. 23-24 in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship in LaCrosse, Wis. The top three individual finishers in each weight class move on to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship, Mar. 9-10 in Cleveland, Ohio. The Thunder last produced national qualifiers in 2015.
