NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. -- The Trine University wrestling team traveled to North Manchester, Ind. for a dual meet against Manchester University, but fell to the Spartans by the final score of 34-9.
Sophomores Luke Carver (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) and Athony Neal (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) were the lone two Thunder wrestlers to record victories in their respective weight classes.
Carver recorded his team-tying high seventh pin of the season defeating Manchester's Tyler Leonhard in a time of 2:13 at 184 pounds, earning six team points.
The final points of the night for Trine were earned by Neal who won by decision in his 197-pound bout against Alex Roberts. Neal edged out Roberts by a final of 6-5.
Trine (6-4) will look to get back on track when the Thunder head back to North Manchester, Ind. to take part in the Mid-States Invitational hosted by Manchester on Saturday, Feb. 10. The event is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.
