Grapplers Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Central Regional

CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND.  --  The Trine University wrestling team completed the final day of competition of the 2018 NCAA Division III Central Regional hosted by Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind.

The Thunder had two individuals compete on day two and placed 17th overall in the team standings with 22 points.  

Sophomore Luke Carver (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) had advanced to the semifinals in the 184-pound weight class and took on Hunter Bates of Wabash, but fell by an 8-5 decision.  In his next match, Carver defeated Isaiah Watson-Kirks of the University of Mount Union by decision with a final score of 9-7 to take fifth place overall.

Sophomore Anthony Neal (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) made it to day two by getting to the consolation quarterfinals where he took on Gavin Dersh-Fisher of Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University.  Neal's day would end, however, as Dersh-Fisher came away with a 9-4 decision.
