Trine's Riley Rasler Named NWCA Scholar All-American

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University freshman wrestler Riley Rasler (LaGrange, Ind./Prairie Heights) had a standout "rookie" season on the mat and in the classroom as a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American.

To become a Scholar All-American, a wrestler must have a 3.2 GPA while meeting one of the following wrestling requirements: 1.) NCAA Qualifier with a winning record; 2.) Regional placewinner with a winning record and competed in at least half of his team's events; 3.) Winning percentage over 0.670 and competed in at least half of his team's events.

Rasler recorded 17 victories during the season to rank third on the team, and was one of five individuals to finish with 15 or more wins for Trine.  Rasler had the second-highest winning percentage for the Thunder at .708 (17-7 overall).

For the season, Rasler led the team in technical falls with nine to go along with a pair of pins, a major decision and four victories by decision.

In dual meet competition, Rasler posted a season-best finish of third place in his weight class at the season-opening Ben McMullen Open in Muskegon, Mich.
