PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Trine University men's wrestling team picked up their first team victory with a 47-7 dual match victory over their hosts from Ancilla College.
Headlining the match for the team were a pair of pins by senior Owen Conklin (West Lafayette, Ind. / Harrison) and sophomore Jacob Jackson (Toledo, Ohio / Toledo Central Catholic), both earning the team six points.
Conklin pinned his opponent just under two minutes into his match to earn his six point while Jackson needed just one minute and thirty seconds to pin his opponent in the 285 match.
Sophomore Joseph Langeman (Carmel, Ind. / Carmel) picked up five of the team's points in the 141 match where he recorded a technical fall by the score of 18-2.
The rest of the team's points came from forfeits with five Thunder earning such victories including Bryce Trimm (Battle Creek, Mich. / Harper Creek) in the 125 match, Jett Boots (Angola, Ind. / Angola) in the 133 match, Amir Crockett (Lafayette, Ind. / Lafayette Jefferson) in the 149 match, Isaac Hawkins (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) in the 157 match and Johnathan Ibarra (Tempe, Ariz. / Tempe) in the 165 match.
Trine improves to 1-4 overall in dual matches this season. They will take the mats again on Saturday, Dec. 18 when they travel to Sandusky, Ohio for the Kalahari Duals. The event is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
