Men's Wrestling Begins 2022-23 Season this Weekend

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's wrestling team opens the 2022-23 season on Saturday, November 5 as the Thunder look to make some noise in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).

Trine, led by fifth-year head coach Tom Hall, brought in three new assistant coaches for the 2022-23 campaign in Zach Rieger, Josh Stephenson and Luke Carver. The Thunder will compete in six non-conference events before entering league action.

First up, Trine will take part in the Ben McMullen Open at Muskegon Community College for the season opener on Saturday, November 5. The next week on Saturday, November 12, the Thunder will take the mats at home for the first time when they host the Trine Invitational. That events kicks off at 9:30 a.m. inside the ARC.

From there, Trine will compete in the Baldwin Wallace Invitational on November 19, Indiana Little State on December 3 and Gator Boot Duals on December 17, all on the road. The Gator Boot Duals will be the longest road trip of the season, with the team heading south to Nashville, Tennessee and Luther College.

In the team's first dual meet of the year, the Thunder play host to Ancilla College on Wednesday, January 4 at 7 p.m. This will be the final non-conference dual of the season.

To open the MIAA portion of the schedule, Trine will square off with Olivet College on the road on January 12, and return home to face Alma College on January 19, both at 7 p.m. The next weekend, the Thunder make the trip to Alma, Michigan to compete in the Alma Open on January 21. The final two conference meets of the season take place on January 26 at Albion College and February 1 versus Adrian College.

The MIAA Tournament will take place on Saturday, February 4 at Adrian. Following that, Trine will compete in the Mid States Tournament at Olivet on February 11 and be in full gear for the NCAA Central Regional on February 25-26.
