Six Place at Indiana Little State

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Six different wrestlers placed at Indiana Little State for the Trine University men's wrestling team. Highlighting the day were a pair of fifth-place finishes by sophomore John Browning and junior Joseph Langeman.

Langeman competed in the 133 weight class taking the mats early in the day. He opened with 5-2 decision before falling in the quarterfinal round of the bracket. He then picked up two victories by pin to start the consolation bracket strong. Another loss and he ended up in the fifth-place match where he won by medical forfeit.

Browning came to the floor later in the day for the 174 weight class. He started with two wins to reach the semifinal, the first by 8-4 decision and the second with a late pin. He dropped his next two matches to land in the fifth-place match where he won in a 9-6 decision.

Freshman Tommy Miller also competed in the 133 weight class and finished in eighth place. He opened with a loss before winning two straight, one with a 12-4 major decision and the other in a 5-2 decision to move through the first rounds of the consolation bracket. He would lose his match against Langeman to land in the seventh-place match where a loss gave him the final place.

Junior Jett Boots was the second member of the team to turn in an eighth-place finish. He began the day with a tech fall win before dropping out of the main bracket. He then strung together three straight wins, two more tech falls and an injury default. He then dropped a close 11-6 decision to fall to the seventh-place match where another four-point loss gave him his finish.

Freshman Lakin Webb took the mats in the 157 weight class where he also finished in eighth. After an opening round bye, he fell in his first match in a 7-3 decision. He pinned his next two opponents to advance through much of the consolation bracket before a 5-4 loss sent him to the seventh-place match. There he had his lone bad loss, getting pinned to finish in eighth.

The final placer of the day was junior Andrew Williamson who finished eighth in the 184 bracket. After an opening round bye, he fell in his first match to advance to the consolation bracket. Two wins, one by 9-5 decision and one by pin. He then dropped his final two matches to finish his day.

The Thunder will continue their season when they travel to the Gator Boot Duals on Saturday, December 17. The team will faceoff in their first three dual matches of the season, the first of which comes against Defiance College at 8 a.m.
