Langeman Named MIAA Athlete of the Week

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- Junior Joseph Langeman has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Wrestling Athlete of the Week after becoming the MIAA individual champion at 133.

This is the third time this season that a Thunder grappler has taken home the weekly award.

Langeman began the week with what could have been a crucial victory in the team's final MIAA dual of the season against Adrian College. Down 6-0 in the team score after one match, Langeman shifted the ton with an early pin (1:30) to quickly tie the score at 6-6. It ended up being one of two victories for the team during the dual as the Bulldogs would go on to win 35-12, securing the MIAA championship.

On Saturday, member of the team took part in the MIAA Tournament as individuals. Langeman posted three straight wins in the 133-pound bracket to become Trine's first MIAA Champion. He posted two straight pins to work his way into the finals of the bracket. There he got revenge from earlier this season against Olivet's Stuart Donlan with a 3-0 decision.

Langeman and the Thunder will continue their season when individuals head to the Mid States Tournament which is set to be hosted by Olivet College on Saturday, February 14.
