ANGOLA, Ind. – A pair of runner-up finishes highlighted the day for the Trine University men's wrestling team as they hosted their annual Trine Invite.

Jett Boots earned the first of the team's second place finishes at 141. He took three straight matches to earn a spot in the championship. His wins came by major decision, pin and decision. In the championship round he wrestled another tough match but came up just short falling in a 6-2 decision.

The other grappler to come up with a second-place finish was Isaac Hawkins at 149. The senior started the day with a quick pin followed by a 10-0 major decision that advance him to the quarterfinals. He won his way to the championship with a decision and another major decision. He was outmatched in the championship and finished second.

Joseph Langeman turned in a third-place performance in the 133 weight class. He made his way to the quarterfinal round with a decision and pin, before dropping to the consolation bracket with a loss. He wrestled back to the third-place match with a pair of pins before taking the final match of his day with a 16-9 decision.

Jacob Saylor opened competition at 197 with a pair of wins, one by decision and the other by pin, to make his way to the quarterfinal round. He fell to the consolation bracket with a loss, but was able to pin his next two opponents and then get a 9-7 win to earn a spot in the consolation bracket finals. Limited to only six matches for a day he finished fourth by default.

Kenneth Garcia became the second member of the team to place at 141. After dropping a tightly contested match to start the day, Garcia worked his way back with four-straight wins to earn a spot in the consolation bracket semifinal match. A loss took him to the fifth-place match where he won by medical forfeit.

The final top-eight finish for the team came once again at 197, this time from Davin George. The freshman won his opening match in sudden victory by the score of 7-4 and ultimately won three straight with a pin and another close decision. In the semifinal round he lost by tech fall and then in the fifth-place match he fell by a 7-0 decision. He finished sixth on the day.

Next week the team will continue their season by traveling to the BW Invite. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 18.
