ALMA, Mich. – A delegation of grapplers representing the Trine University men's wrestling team traveled to the Alma College Open, with senior Andrew Captain leading the way with a fifth-place finish.
Captain won his first two matches with pins before falling to a Division I athlete in the quarterfinal round to fall to the consolation bracket. He won two more matches, both by decision to reach the semifinals where he once again fell. He then won the fifth-place match by default.
The team returns home to enter the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) portion of their season. They are set to host Olivet College for the first conference dual of the season on Wednesday, January 24 at 7 p.m.
