Tom Hall joined the Thunder wrestling program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2016 and was promoted to head coach in May of 2018.
In his first season at the helm, the Thunder finished with a 6-5 record in dual meet competition and placed in a three-way tie for second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in wrestling's return as a conference-sponsored sport after a 35-year hiatus. At the annual regional meet, Trine placed sixth overall and had four competitors place in their respective weight classes led by Nick Miller who placed a team-best fourth at 174-pounds. Individually, six wrestlers ended the year with 10 or more wins, including two athletes with over 20 victories. Hall's team also had success off the mat in the classroom as two individuals were selected Scholar All-American in Nick Miller and Ethan Simmons.
Hall brings a strong wrestling pedigree to the Trine wrestling program. He wrestled collegiately at Olivet College, where he was a two-time NCAA Division III Regional placer. While at Olivet, Hall also earned NCAA Division III All-American honors and was a two-time captain. Hall graduated from Olivet in 2016 with a degree in exercise science.
A native of South Boardman, Mich., Hall was a three-time Michigan High School state qualifier at Fife Lake Forest Area High School. His top performance in the state meet included a third-place finish. Hall graduated from Fife Lake Forest Area in 2012.
