Thunder Women’s Soccer Drop First of the Season

ANGOLA, Ind. - After coming back from an early one goal deficit, the Trine University women's soccer team fell to Manchester University 2-1. The Thunder's record now drops to 1-1 on the season.

Manchester jumped out to an early lead in the 28th minute as Katelyn Barta headed home the game's first goal.

The Thunder would tie the game just before halftime as sophomore Skyler Reed (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) took a long pass from junior Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) and buried it into the upper right corner with 4:15 left in the half. It was Reed's first goal of the season and King's second assist on the year.

The Spartans would add the eventual game-winner on another Barta goal at 63:50 as she scored on another header, this time off of a corner kick.

Senior goalie Jamie Schnarr (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) made her first career start for the Thunder, playing all 90 minutes while recording five saves.

For the game, Manchester out-shot the Thunder 11-8 including an 8-2 advantage on goal.
